Overview
Addictions are a common co-morbidity for clients who have experienced trauma and can present a complex puzzle for therapists. It can be tricky to discern how much stabilisation is required, and what to target first: addictive urges / behaviours, or the trauma underlying the addiction?
In this webinar, you will learn how to conceptualise addictions from an EMDR framework, assess a client’s readiness for trauma reprocessing, select appropriate targets, and how to confidently apply the DeTUR Protocol (Popky) and Feeling State Addiction Protocol (Miller) in your EMDR clinical practice. There will be opportunities for questions, reflection and discussion.
PLEASE NOTE: This webinar is suitable only for therapists who have previously undertaken EMDR Basic Training. It does not constitute an EMDR Basic Training Program.
Time / Structure
The live webinar will take place from 1:00pm-4:30pm AEST (Melbourne time).
It can be hard to sit in front of a computer screen for hours at a time, so the event will be optimised to ensure that you get the most out of the experience. It will be structured as 2 x 90 minute webinar segments (1-2:30pm AEST and 3-4:30pm AEST) with a 30-minute break in between. There will be a strong emphasis on integrating new knowledge into your clinical practice.
Recording
Not sure if you can participate on the day? No worries at all, the webinar will be recorded and sent to all registered participants after the event, along with the presentation slides and accompanying resources. So you can engage in the training at any time that suits you. You'll also have ongoing access to the recording so that you can re-watch the webinar down the track to consolidate and refresh your learning.
