I enjoy supporting EMDR therapists to complete the EMDRAA accreditation process. I offer tailored support through individual and group accreditation-focused consultation. My sessions demystify the process and simplify the journey towards becoming an Accredited EMDR Practitioner or Consultant.
Accreditation not only enhances your professional credentials but also provides a structured learning experience to enhance your EMDR knowledge, skills and confidence as an EMDR therapist. If you’d keen to become a highly proficient EMDR therapist, accreditation is a great goal to pursue.
The first accreditation credential is becoming an ‘Accredited EMDR Practitioner’. This status is awarded to EMDR therapists who have been assessed by an Accredited EMDR Consultant as being competent in the in 8 phases of the EMDR standard protocol.
Accredited EMDR Practitioner Pathway
Requirements for Becoming an Accredited EMDR Practitioner
Complete the EMDR Basic Training Program (Part 1, Part 2, 10 hours of consultation).
Have at least one year of clinical experience using EMDR Therapy since completing the EMDR Basic Training.
Conduct a minimum of 50 EMDR therapy sessions commencing your Part 1 EMDR training
Treat a minimum of 25 clients since commencing Part 1 EMDR training.
Complete 10 hours of consultation with an Accredited Consultant (beyond the initial 10 hours of consultation for EMDR Basic Training).
Demonstrate competency in the 8 phases of the EMDR standard protocol, as assessed by an EMDRAA Accredited Consultant through consultation sessions and observation of your EMDR clinical work, via reviewing one video of you conducting an EMDR therapy session.
Obtain two references to support your Accredited Practitioner application:

After achieving the status of an Accredited EMDR Practitioner, you can pursue the next level of accreditation to become an Accredited EMDR Consultant (Supervisor). Accredited Consultants play a crucial role in the future development of EMDR Therapy, ensuring quality assurance and maintaining high standards of practice. They provide EMDR-focused consultation (supervision) to therapists, assess and support applicants seeking EMDR accreditation, and assist at EMDR training workshops.
Accredited EMDR Consultant Pathway
Requirements for Becoming an Accredited EMDR Consultant
Have been an Accredited EMDR Practitioner for at least 2 years.
Be experienced in using EMDR Therapy to treat a broad range of clinical presentations with varying complexity.
Conduct at least 300 EMDR sessions since becoming an Accredited EMDR Practitioner.
Treat a minimum of 75 clients since becoming an Accredited EMDR Practitioner.
Complete 20 hours of consultation with an Accredited Consultant since becoming an Accredited EMDR Practitioner.
Undertake a minimum of 30 hours of EMDR related professional development since becoming an Accredited EMDR Practitioner.
Demonstrate competency in the following areas, as assessed by an Accredited EMDR Consultant: the 8 phases of the EMDR standard protocol; skills in using EMDR with a range of client populations; and skills in providing individual and group EMDR consultation.
Submit 3 videos to your Accredited Consultant for review and assessment of your skills:
1 x EMDR therapy session
1 x EMDR individual consultation session
1 x EMDR group consultation session
